Doggy in the "Soup"

Hey nothing to this "surfing" thing!
I'm getting good!
Watch me "surf"
Hey now, waves, not so ruff!!
Thank goodness for the leash!!

These pictures were taken at the Beach In Hobe Sound, Florida on October 4, 2006. The Atlantic was a little rough that day, the waves were quite large for Florida and there were lots of "real" surfers out there!!

The Vacation Begins...

After the drive through Georgia and the Carolinas, we arrived in Roanoke Virginia. For a couple of days, "the dogs" got to go everywhere with Mom and Dad, then came Saturday, the wedding, big party, lots of fun, for humans only!!! No dogs allowed they told me and Coopie. I guess they don't think "the dogs" know how to party and have fun. Well, they are just plain wrong, and we don't think it was fair that we missed all of the fun and don't forget the great food that we missed. They made it up to us on Sunday, well made it mostly up, there were still a few places they didn't let us go to, but we did get to go up in the mountains and run around. There is a log cabin up in the mountains that we always visit when we come to Virginia. Very fun, lots of room to run and a big fish pond, too. At the cabin there are deer and rabbits to chase (not as much fun to play with as Kitty Boy) but a little something to do. As usual, Coopie got in trouble for not coming back when called, I just don't know what her problem is!! We went to a couple of parks on the Blue Ridge Parkway, then we came back home to sleep, we sure were tired. Monday we had a lot of visitors at the house so we didn't go any place. Today it is raining, but Dad said in a little while we will go to Mill Mountain and look out over the city of Roanoke. There is a Big Star that they light up every night on Mill Mountain you can see it from anywhere in the city, there is also a Zoo up on the mountain, but no dogs allowed. Just when I was thinking how much easier it was be to chase the animals if the are fenced in. Mom said they have big animals at the Zoo that can eat small dogs such as myself and Coopie. Just as well that they do not allow dogs!!! Wednesday morning we are leaving for Tennessee, that's Coopie's old stomping ground and she has promised to show me around. More adventures to come... The first pic is at the Roanoke Star at Mill Mountain Zoo in Roanoke Virginia... The second and third pics were taken at my friend JD's log cabin (I love to go there, lots of woods to play in and a fish pond)

Here are some pictures of the bride and groom at the great wedding that we (my sister Coopie and me) were not allowed to attend and the great wedding cake which we did get a little taste of once Mom and Dad Got back home. Still I hate it that they did not invite "the dogs.

And here I am at a great park in Roanoke, Virginia. There were no human kids at the park that day so Mom let me go on the Slide, at first I didn't get it but after I went down one time, I ran back up to go again. It was just the slide for the very small kids Mom didn't let me go on the big kids slide.

My Summer Vacation

I will be leaving to go on vacation, on July 18th, we will be touring the South. Leaving from our home in Spring Hill, Florida, through Georgia and the Carloinas to Roanoke Virginia where will visit with Dad's family, attend a wedding and a memorial service for Dad's mom. Then it's on to Tennessee, Knoxville, Crossville, Nashville and on to Memphis where we will visit with friends for a few days and maybe do a little boating (you know that's one of my favorite things to do) on Pickwick Lake. I have never been boating on a lake, but mom says I will like it, different from the Gulf, no salt, she says I can even drink from this lake. I am looking forward to it. My sister Coopie was born in Memphis and she wants to get back to see what's new there. The last leg of our trip will take us through Mississippi and Alabama and back through the Florida panhandle. I will be posting pics (taken with my borrowed camera, if you didn't hear about my camera see my earlier post) for all to see. I will be taking pictures where ever we go and posting them. I hope by the time I get back to be able to put together a slide show, maybe I will call it "What I Did On My Summer Vacation" or maybe not, but we will with a little luck have a good slide show. All of this will come to past if the borrowed camera works properly, if not then I will just be posting without my pics. Not as much fun but still I will be able to document where my travels have taken me. Coopie and I will be having a tail wagging good time. Kitty Boy will be staying home as he does not like to travel. The neighbors will be taking care of him. Look for updates real soon!!!

A Day on the Gulf

It was Saturday July 8th and we loaded up to take the boat out on the Gulf of Mexico for the day. The car ride to the boat was exhilirating as usual, my favorite saying is "let's ride", and the trip out to the swimming area on the boat was pretty unenventful. We had been out at the swimming area for a little while and I was tired of sunbathing (I use lots of sunscreen) so I decided it was time for a swim. I "woofed" for Mom to come get me, I do not like to jump off the boat unless Mom or Dad are there to help. Mom was standing in knee deep water a few feet from the boat and she came right over to help. When I got in the water Mom notice that our digital camera was also in the water, the case strap was wrapped around my back leg and it just came in with me. Mom rescued the camera and dried it out but it would not work, so no pics from the boat that day. (The pics in this enrty were taken over Memorial Day Weekend.) Anyway the day was still fun and I did a lot of swimming. The camera is in for repairs and will cost $60, not as bad as Dad thought. He was sure the camera was a total loss. Anyway this is where we go swimming in the Gulf of Mexico of Hernando Beach, Florida.

Having A Brewski With Dad

At Crossroads Bar & Grill...

If it's one thing I really like it's dining al fresco. There is nothing like sitting on the patio of one of my favorite spots enjoying the breeze and the smell of the great 1/2 lb burgers and chicken wings they serve. Where is this great place for both friendly dogs, such as myself and friendly people like my Dad. It is Crossroads Bar & Grill in Brooksville, Florida. If you don't know where it is, just ask anybody in Brooksville and they will gladly give you directions. Dad says their burgers are one of the best around and I certainly have to agree with him. I like mine plain but Dad has his with all the "fixin's". Dad usually has fries, but I save myself for the real thing, burgers, burgers, burgers. If you are in the Brooksville area and want a good burger then Crossroads Bar & Grill is the place. If you are thinking of moving to Brooksville, Florida, probably because you want to try a burger at Crossroads, just contact my Dad. His name is Karl and his phone number is 352-650-6823. His last name is just like mine Hosp, 'cause he's my Dad you know. His email is karlhosp@gmail.com and he is a realtor with ERA Pearson Realty here in Hernando County Florida. Remember, Brooksville will be a great place to live the weather is beautiful and the Crossroads burgers are the best! Just give Dad a call and tell him you found him on Buddy's Blog, www.buddysays.blogspot.com By the way Dad has a very informative website, too, Spring Hill Real Estate , check it out, there lots more about Hernando County including Spring Hill, Hernando Beach, Weeki Wachee, and Brooksville her on the Nature Coast of Florida.

Meet My Brother - Kitty Boy

Kitty Boy is my older brother, even though he is of the feline persuasion, I still love him. He really loves to play with me although he can sometimes play a little too "ruff". Since he still has all of his claws, I have to be carefully to know when he is not in the playing mood and when he is ready to quit playing! He makes a lot of noise with all that "meowing" but for a cat he can't be beat. Kitty Boy is five years old and he also moved to sunny Spring Hill, Florida from Memphis, Tennessee. Kitty Boy was born in September 2001, Dad was installing a flag pole for some patriotic Memphians and they had a litter of kittens and Kitty Boy just caught his eye as he was hiding in his toolbox and he said he couldn't leave without the playful little kitten. Mom wanted to name him Cisco, but he just never would pay attention to her unless she call him Kitty Boy. He always comes running when she calls, while I on the hand like to keep her waiting, makes her appreciate me more? Maybe not, but she always comes looking for me if I don't answer the call. Am I "bad"? Well,

back to Kitty Boy, yes he is a "Tom Cat", he really likes to go outside but Mom doesn't let him (she says too many diseases and fleas), but sometimes if the humans don't close the door and latch it Kitty Boy makes a break for it and runs for cover under the car. That's when I come into the picture, it is my job to go under the car and chase him back in the house. Yes, that's my job and I love to help out if needed. Kitty Boy just needs to understand that it's a tough world for cats out there in the big unknown! Having no experience with the outdoors, he just needs to learn to keep his furry self inside where it is safe. By the way did I tell you he is really just a "walking hairball", he actually sheds in hairballs according to Mom and I think I have seen some of these hairballs fall off of him. Got to go, Kitty Boy wants to play "chase the dog"!

Meet My Sister - Coopie

Coopie is a miniture pincher that Mom and Dad found in the front yard of their home in Memphis, Tennessee. Poor little Coopie had been hit by a car, a very big deal when you only weigh about 5lbs. Mom and Dad nursed her back to health and posted her description with animal control, all the vets in the area, the Humane Society and every place else they could think of including handing out flyers. After all of that they did not receive even one call about the little dog. All of that was back before the turn of the century, you know, way back in 1999. Coopie moved here from Tennessee back in January 2005 and she loves her new life in sunny Spring Hill, Florida. Mom and Dad think Coopie might have been a breeder dog as she seems to have had several litters of puppies and had recently had puppies when she was found back in 1999. The vet told Mom and Dad that Coopie was about 4 years old when they found her, how about that same age as I am now. So you see she is my big sister! Mom told me that in 2003 Coopie almost died because she ate something that was not good for her and it damaged her liver. Thank goodness, the vet was able to save her or I wouldn't have a big sister today. Coopie is very afraid of thunder and I think she has panic attacks during the storms. All she wants to do is whine and shake and sit on Mom or Dad's lap. I think she is kind of a whimp, I'm not afraid of a little old thunder, but I still feel sorry for her. Anyway she sure does provide me with a lot of company when Mom and Dad have to leave us at home alone. Coopie does not like to go riding in the car like I do and she does not like boating, I think she must be pretty bored but she seem happy, so what do I know.

My Adoption! My New Family! My New Life! The First Year!

Just about one year ago I was adopted by my human Mom and Dad (Gail & Karl) from the Humane Society in Pasco County Florida. (Picture of me straight from the Humane Society) I'm a good dog, so I'm not sure why my old family left me, but it doesn't matter anymore because now I live the "good life" with Mom & Dad, my canine, older sister Coopie, she's a min-pin (black & tan) and my feline, older brother Kitty Boy, a domestic short hair american cat (black & white). I will be posting my family pictures soon, so please check back and see what a great family I have. I love to go on long walks with Mom, Dad & Coopie, Kitty Boy can't go because he won't walk on a leash (we do have leash laws in Spring Hill Florida). I think that I just may be the luckiest dog in the world to get such a great adoptive family! They take me out on the boat when the weather is nice. I love sitting in the sun but Mom sprays me with sunscreen and I don't care much for the smell or the taste. That is why I like to get in the water it washes off the sunscreen, a little. I am not too fond of swimming and I always wear my life preserver on the boat and in the water, but I do like to ride on the raft if I can get Mom or Dad to pull me around to visit friends, both human and canine (no felines out on the Gulf) . Since we mostly boat in the Gulf of Mexico, I can't drink the water (I tried, way too salty) so I eat ice cubes (doggysicles) to keep me hydrated, and there are usually good treats to be eaten throughout to day. Sometimes, the humans B-B-Q out on the water and then the food is really good. I like it when the humans tie the boats together, then I can travel from boat to boat and not even get my feet wet! And, oh yes, I forgot to mention that I love riding in the car, Mom & Dad wish that we lived on the water in Hernando Beach, so we could go out on the boat more often, but for me the ride to Hernando Beach in the car is almost as much fun as the boat ride. I for one like where we live now! Since I have long hair, when I come in off the boat, I must be groomed, a nice bath, brushing and blow dry, boy do I live a pampered life!
